A little 4 year old girl sat in Spectrum’s lobby waiting for her older sister.
She stopped a woman walking by to ask the woman if she knew when her sister would be finished with her appointment. The woman, who was clearly on her way somewhere, stopped immediately. She smiled back at the little girl, and told her she would check on the time, which she did, and quickly returned to the little girl to reassure her that it would be soon. The little girl shared with the woman that she missed her sister when she was gone.
The woman had a great number of things to do, but at that moment, nothing was more important than the little face in front of her. To the great delight of the little girl, the woman sat in the lobby with her. The two talked and giggled and played with the little girl’s doll until the little girl’s sister returned to the lobby from her appointment. The little girl said goodbye and each went on their way.
Those watching this scene could not help but remark how adorable those two were, sitting together like old friends, playing with a doll.
The little girl, no doubt, went back to her home and the woman, went back to her office to continue working, for she had much work to do.
And on the door of the woman’s office office read a nameplate: April Razo, Spectrum Healthcare CEO.
At Spectrum Healthcare, every patient matters to every one of us.
Congratulations to Linn Montjoy, Spectrum Healthcare’s 2015 Employee of the Year!
Linn is the Team Lead on the Intensive Care Management Team for adult clients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. He leads a team of eight who help high risk clients with wrap around services.
SMI Adult Clinical Supervisor Gina Vega-Mendez said of Montjoy, “Linn is an exemplary employee and always willing to go the extra mile. He has a strong work ethic and professional manner. He is very knowledgeable, and makes customer service, treating people with dignity and respect, and providing timely responses a part of his daily work. His goal is to provide the best care he can to all clients.” She added, “Linn’s personal motivation and desire to do the best possible job makes him a true asset.”
Commenting on his selection as employee of the year, he said “It was an absolute honor and meant a great deal because of how far I’ve come in my own recovery due to people like those I work with. I do the work that I do because I believe everybody deserves an opportunity for quality of life.”
Montjoy says he’s a big believer in leaving things better than he found them, and that’s what he preaches to his team. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and came to work at Spectrum Healthcare in January of 2014. He quickly earned the respect of coworkers and was voted employee of the year in his first year of eligibility. In response to his selection, Montjoy wrote to his colleagues, “This award is not about me but about each and every one of you, and empowering our clients of which many now are young children sleeping in a safe bed, drug addicts clean of drugs, alcoholics sober from alcohol and mentally unstable stable with the quality of life that they deserve. Asked how he unwinds after a day of helping others, Montjoy responded, “golf, golf, golf, and maybe a little fishing.”
Spectrum Healthcare C.E.O. April Razo added, “There is no one more deserving than Linn. He goes the extra mile for his clients and his coworkers everyday without question.”
Also nominated for Employee of the Year and receiving Peer Recognition Awards were Amy Stanley, Member Services Administrator, Eric Brandenburg IT Help Desk Clerk, Shawn Evans, Facilities Custodian, Rob Petsche, Children’s Clinical Director, and Mimi Evans, Customer Service Representative.
