Twice a year, AHCCCS and Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) gather for all day vocational meetings. These meetings bring together people whose mission it is to help other people re-enter the workforce, providing the skills and training necessary to help many improve their lives. And because of our award-winning Work Adjustment Training Program (WAT), Spectrum Healthcare was selected to host the February event in our newly remodeled community room.
In attendance were state regional behavioral health agencies, including Health Choice Integrated Care, Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care, and Cenpatico Integrated Care. Over 70 guests from all over the state attended the meeting , which included a presentation of the Spectrum WAT Program by our Vocational Specialist, Chris Watters and Program Supervisor, Jody Marion. We were honored to have as speaker one of our WAT program participants who shared his personal experiences with the program, highlighting how it has played an important part in his recovery and in the development of his progress toward his vocational goals.
And did we mention lunch? An amazing homemade enchilada lunch prepared at the Verde Valley Senior Center (one of our partners) by our WAT team received rave reviews. Enchiladas, rice, beans, a secret salsa and a delicious cake all served by our WAT staff and trainees.
Thanks to the support of management and our dedicated team of staff, the Spectrum WAT program continues to grow and benefit individuals by teaching the soft skills required to find community jobs, start their own business, return to school or find other meaningful activity. The program will be celebrating it’s two year anniversary and has demonstrated an 80% success rate.
