Rapid COVID-19 Test
Spectrum Healthcare is excited to announce that we will have rapid COVID-19 testing available on September 1st! We will be offering an FDA approved rapid PCR/NAAT test for active viral infection that has the same level of accuracy as a large lab, but get results back to you in under 15 minutes!
There are many rapid testing options, what makes this one different?
Rapid COVID-19 testing for active infection falls into two categories: molecular and antigen.
Antigen testing detects proteins that are on the surface of a virus. Antigen testing has a higher rate of false negative results and is not considered a definitive diagnostic result. Antigen testing is a great way to quickly determine if someone is positive for COVID-19, but negative results must be confirmed with molecular testing.
Molecular testing includes methodologies such as RT-PCR and NAAT, which check for the presence of the genetic material of the virus. This test is considered the gold standard and gives a highly accurate definitive diagnostic test result.
Spectrum is proud to offer one of the only FDA approved rapid molecular tests available on the market today.
